The Youth Empowers Service’s (Y.E.S.) mission is to be the bridge for the future Workforce and Communities by utilizing career professionals, education and business leaders and mentors via on-the-job training and providing professional career, education and individual wellness training services to connect partnerships with local businesses and organizations in communities.
This unique career development program will empower young adults and enhance their interests in education, careers, business and wellness development. Our goal is to encourage under represented youth and young adults to get excited, explore and get involved in seeking their life paths that could result to Entrepreneurship, a Vocation, a Credential, Education or Work Experience. Y.E.S. creates Building Blocks for young adults to get started with life.

Youth Labor Workforce in the United States is defined by ages 16 to 24 years olds working or actively looking for work. Youth employment and unemployment is measured seasonally in a timeframe between April and July each year. The month of July is the peak month in youth employment because it is youth who are high school students, college students or graduates seeking employment).

UNEMPLOYMENT RATES BY RACE (Ages 16-24), July 2020
The youth unemployment (ages 16-24) rate spiked to 26.9 percent in April 2020 and declined to 18.5 percent in July.
July 2020 unemployment rates:
Men: 18.4%
Women: 18.6%
Whites: 16.7%
Blacks: 25.4%
Asians: 25.4%
Hispanics: 21.7%
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic Impact on the Labor Market: The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and efforts to contain it have had a dramatic effect on the labor market in 2020. Employment fell and unemployment rose sharply in March and April. The changes have been widespread across all demographic groups, including youth. Employment declines were particularly steep in leisure and hospitality.

From April to July 2020, the number of employed youth 16 to 24 years old increased by 4.4 million to 17.5 million. In July 2020, 46.7 percent of young people were employed, down from 56.2 percent in July 2019.
